The 2017 Acura MDX was unveiled at the 2016 NYIAS (New York International Auto Show). This three-row luxury SUV comes with redesigned grille, new hybrid powertrain and standard AcuraWatch on all models. Just like previous models, it will come with one gasoline engine and in two trim levels. Novelty for 2017 year model is new Hybrid powertrain that includes three electric motors beside standard gasoline engine. The new Acura MDX 2017 will have to compete with BMW X5, Audi Q7, Lexus RX and Infiniti QX60.
2017 Acura MDX redesigned front fascia
New face of the 2017 MDX is bolder with brand new diamond pentagon grille. We could saw that grille on the Acura Precision Concept that had its premiere this January at the North American International Auto Show. Beside new Acura grille, sportier front fascia design is enhanced by the more muscular hood, front fenders with integrated LED Foglights and restyled Jewel Eye headlights. On the rear, there is a restyled bumper with twin tailpipes and body colored skid garnish.
Interior of the new Acura luxury SUV is subordinate to passengers. Leather upholstery is all around the travelers while base model comes fully equipped. Standard features for all trim levels include Acura Watch, Electric Parking Brake with Automatic Brake Hold, SiriusXM Radio 2.0, Auto High Beam Headlights and 4 USB charging ports. Beside standard features, Technology and Advance packages also include larger 20-inch wheels, Keyless remote engine start, HD traffic and power folding side mirrors. Models with advanced package also get LED Foglights, heated steering wheel, wood interior trim and Surround-View Camera system. Top package is Advance and vehicles with this package get Rear entertainment system with second-row captain’s chairs option with center console with 2 additional USB ports.

AcuraWatch comes standard for all trim levels
Ford 2017-year model all Acura MDXs get AcuraWatch safety suite that detects other vehicles and lane markings in order to prevent or reduce the seriousness of a collision. This system includes Collision Mitigation Braking System with automatic emergency braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow.
New Acura MDX 2017 specs and price
Standard MDX comes equipped with 3.5-liter V6 engine that we could see under the hood of its predecessor. It delivers 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes paired with 9-speed automatic transmission and either FWD or AWD drivetrain. When it comes to fuel economy, it has EPA rating 22 mpg combined for FWD and 21 mpg for AWD models.
The Acura’s third model (after NSX and RLX) with 3-motor Sport Hybrid SH-AWD powertrain is the 2017 Acura MDX Hybrid. It is propelled by a 3.0-liter V6 engine while two electric motors power rear wheels. Engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission with incorporated electric motor and power is transferred to the front wheels. Total system output is 325 horsepower with expected fuel economy of 25/26/26 mpg (city/hwy/combined). With Technology and Advanced packages buyer get an Active Sport Suspension with four drive modes available: Comfort, Normal, Sport and Sport+.
The 2017 Acura MDX release date is set for summer 2016 for standard models while Hybrid model will come to the scene few months later. When it comes to price for both models it will be announce just before their release dates. Its predecessor, the 2016 MDX has a start MSRP price of $43,015 for base model and goes up to $57,230 for MDX SH-AWD with all available packages.
