After hectic speculations and tons of spy shots, the refurbished 991 also known as 991.2 has at last was unveiled ahead of its scheduled debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show 2015. As hinted during the speculations, the facelift in the exterior and interior of the vehicle are mild and reasonable, but under the hood things are different. Rumors go on explaining Porsche’s plan to introduce turbo charging throughout the entire line up except GT3 and GTS for the present. In addition to turbo charging, the new 2017 Porsche 991 is smarter with an updated chassis, rear axle-steering, improved dynamics and latest updates in the in-car technology.
Just like the previous facelifts of 911, the exterior remains unchanged except for a few nips and tucks. Upfront, the bumper underwent major changes with revised layout for air intake and light strips. The headlamps are seen changed by providing four-point running lights. The profile of this vehicle remains unchanged except for redesigned door handles. The rear dick-lid is redesigned with louvers in the vertical direction and with four-point brake lights. The reworked bumper is provided with air outlets on their sides. The ride height of the new 991 car has been reduced by 0.4 inches than the existing one’s ride height. This reduction was resulted as a consequence of wider rear tires, and reconfiguration of its suspension system.

The new Communication Management system with online navigation system is the first change that catches the eyes. This system can be operated by multi-touch gestures applied to the seven inch display unit. Apple CarPlay can be connected with the option provided for it. Real time traffic information as well as Google Street view and Google Earth are available through the PCM system integrated in the 911 for the first time. The revised steering wheel is equipped with ChronoPackage which consists of a rotary dial with 4 positions for driving modes like Normal, Individual, Sport and Sport Plus.

The 2017 Porsche 991 has ditched its naturally aspirated engines paving way for turbocharged engine’s entrance. The six-cylinder engines pump out 370 HP with 330 lb-ft of torque in the Carrera and 420 HP with 368 lb-ft of torque in the Carrera S. These figures are 20 HP and 43 lb-ft greater than the figures for their earlier models. The Carrera is capable of reaching 60 km/h within 4.4 seconds with its maximum speed limited to 183mph. With PDK transmission this time needed for reaching 60 km/h can be reduced to 4.2 seconds. In the Carrera S which operates on manual transmission the time reduces to 4.1 seconds and the maximum speed of the car changes to 190 mph.
2017 Porsche 911 price and release date
The new car is expected to reach the dealerships during the fag end of the year 2016 and its base model is expected to cost around $ 89,400 which means that the new model is $5,100 more costly than its predecessor. With PDK transmission the price goes up to $92,600. The manual transmission base model 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera S will be available for $ 103,400 and with the PDK transmission the price will increase to $ 115,700.
