The Toyota Tacoma, the pickup truck was introduced in the automobile market in the year 1995 which was replaced by its second version in the year 2004. This first generation Tacoma classified as compact pickup was replaced by the second generation and was classified as mid-size. At present Toyota Tacoma was sold in countries like Canada, USA, Panama, Mexico, Chile, Bolivia and New Caledonia in the South Pacific. The third generation from Toyota Tacoma is going to be released with substantial changes in the cabin, body and performance.
2017 Toyota Tacoma exterior review
The new Toyota Tacoma 2017 uses more Aluminum and fiber so that the weight of the car is reduced resulting in consequent improvement in the mileage of the vehicle. Though the new Tacoma looks similar to the outgoing vehicle in appearance, the wheel base of the new vehicle is lesser than the outgoing vehicle affecting the cabin size of the vehicle. A new bent frame has been added to this vehicle to protect it from breaking under high torque produced at the time of running. Contrary to general expectations the new Tacoma remains unchanged with little tweaks. The grille of the car remains unchanged except for the different mesh and the stripes.
Toyota Tacoma 2017 interior changes
The 2017 Toyota Tacoma comes with a new cabin layout and new dashboard, door panels and middle tunnel. Fabric cloth of Softex upholstery is available in most of the models, and limited grade comes with leather. Bluetooth, navigation and HD radio are coming with a touch screen central console of 6.1 inch. Dual zone climate control, optional moonroof, wireless charging, etc are other new features. Rear view camera and blind spot monitors are available, but whether they will be available in standard models is yet to be known. The multi terrain select facility available in the previous version is included in the 2017 Toyota Tacoma. This adds to the off-road capabilities, the special characteristic of Tacoma all these years.
2017 Toyota Tacoma engine specs
The base engine is a carry over one with 2.74 liter, four cylinders, 159 HP, 180 lb-ft torque with six speed automatic transmission. The earlier engine which was a 4.0 liter V-6 with 3.5 liter capacity with 4- speed automatic and 5-speed manual transmissions has been discarded. The new Tacoma also gets slightly smaller V-6, 3.5 L producing 236 HP it comes with six speed manual as well as automatic transmission.Fuel economy ratings of Tacoma have improved this time. The base engine gets a 21/25 mpg, but V-6 offers even larger improvements. It is expected to surpass the four cylinder option.
2017 Toyota Tacoma price and release date
The 2017 Toyota Tacoma is expected to cost little more and is supposed to cost $21,000 for the base model and$ 40,000 for the TRD pro and limited offer models. Though substantial changes have been mooted the overall looks remain the same. The changes that it gets in the powertrain department are not sufficient to change the basic things drastically. Whether the enriched interior with some new tech options are enough to beat the compacts of GM which are prominent in the field is yet to be seen.
