The 2018 Ford Mustang is an upcoming sport vehicle from Ford Performance team. They gave us couple pictures, officially presented early this year. If we hear the rumors it will come as a soft-top convertible or as a coupe. This car is set to come in as many as 5 trim levels – GT, GT Premium, EcoBoost, EcoBoost Costs and V6. It will have plenty of assistance features such as hill-start aid and safety aspects like vehicle driver knee airbag, side drape airbags, front-seat side air bags, a rearview camera, stability and traction control and anti-lock disc brakes. It will be interesting to see how will Ford Mustang 2018 compete with new Chevy Camaro and Corvette.
2018 Ford Mustang facelift news
The redesigned version of the 2018 Ford Mustang will include MagneRide adaptive bumpers which will be available on GT Performance and EcoBoost packs. It should enhance handling of the next-gen Mustang. Front fascia of all models will, for the first time, include new all-LED lights, that includes headlights, foglights and turn-signals. Rear end of the car will come with revised LED taillights and available performance spoiler. Mustang EcoBoost will come with dual-pipe exhaust while GT V8 will feature a quad-tip exhaust. The sides will be adorned by new-look 17-inch alloy wheels with all-new Orange Fury color. The new Mustang will come in two extra paint colors, royal crimson and orange fury. It will have LED taillights with consecutive turn indicator, automatic xenon fronts lights and a limited-slip rear differential.
The vehicle will boast of seats wrapped in high quality material, such as leather. Buyers will be able to enjoy a wide range of features. These will include a 6-speaker stereo system with dual USB ports and a CD player, Track Application efficiency telemetry, MyKey adult controls comprising of geofencing, a quantity limiter and a speed limiter, a 4.2 inch display, Bluetooth, Sync voice control system, rearview camera, auto-dimming rearview mirror, telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, AC and more. The dashboard will feature 12-inch LCD screen and there is customizable instrument cluster with three available display options: Normal, Sport and Track mode.
There will be enough internal space for driver and passengers, to make them comfortable during trips – especially long-distance rides. There will be good luggage space to cater to the needs of families that often go on rides. There are Pedestrian Detection and Pre-Collision Assist for better safety behind the wheel.
New Ford Mustang 2018 specs
Unlike its predecessor, the new Ford Mustang 2018 drops old V6 in favor of the 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged inline-4. Power numbers of this four-cylinder powerplant are not official yet but there are expectations that it could offer deliver maximum torque of 320 pounds per feet and peak power of 310 hp. Under the hood of the GT models will be a reliable 5.0-liter V8 powerplant that delivers 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
Both of the engines will be paired with a new 10-speed automatic transmission. As Ford engineers said, the new gearbox will have quicker shift times and it will enable better responsiveness and performance. All models will feature new shock absorbers and new cross-axis joint which enable improved ride control, sharper response and handling.
2018 Ford Mustang release date and price
The new Ford Mustang 2018 is anticipated to show up at the New York Auto Show in April. It will go on sale in fall 2017. Pricing is still unknown but we expect that base model with EcoBoost engine will start around $25,000 while GT model with V8 engine should be around $33,000. Convertibles should add around $7,000 on price of the Coupe model. It is expected that the 2018 Ford Mustang will compete with the likes of the Chevrolet Camaro 1LE.
