Exterior appearance of the crossover SUV
The best-selling premium SUV comes with a very simple design, expect from the front grille and area which appears luxurious. Front L-shaped headlights will be made with LED technology that will be surrounded with eighteen LED lamps for turn signal signaling. The exteriors of the vehicle can be best described as ordinary and nothing special with large grille and sharp lines. The styling of the Lexus RX is based on the angle, blacked-out “floating” rear-roof pillar, and medieval – faceplate grille. It will be available as RX 350 and RX 450h models.
Interior redesign of the new Lexus RX 2018
The Lexus vehicles are known for one thing and that is massive space and cargo volume. Its interior was one of 10 best interiors in 2016, according to Ward’s list. For that reason, you cannot expect too many changes or alterations on the inside, which is going to be pretty much the same. That is very typical of the car maker which is known to make frugal changes only. The new vehicle comes with seven-seat models.
The L model will see more features including a power-folding third-row seat, the Lexus Safety System+ that comes with radar cruise control, lane-departure warning with automatic steering correction, high-beam headlamps, pre-crash warning and autonomous emergency braking, and automatically come to a full emergency stop. Unlike the 350-model, the RX 450h will come with Blind Spot Monitor safety system. This system also integrates parking assistance and thanks to radar feature there is also Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Auto Braking.
New Lexus RX 2018 engine variants and specs
There will be two models of the new Lexus RX 2018: regular petrol 350 and Hybrid 450h model. The RX 350 comes with the least powerful standard engine in the competition, which is the 3.5-liter V-6 of 295 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. However, it comes with the 8-speed automatic transmission that can provide a prompt and smooth throttle response and acceleration, which should be enough for the roads. It will be available with either FWD or AWD drivetrain. When it comes to fuel economy it should be rated around 28 mpg when you drive it through the city.
When the new RX 350 comes with AWD it will be equipped with Dynamic Torque Control system. With plenty of sensors, it adjusts speed of the car, angle and steering speed, throttle angle and yaw rate. With good road conditions system runs as FWD for better fuel efficiency but it automatically changes to AWD when conditions goes bad.
RX 450h – Hybrid for more power and more miles
The RX 450h is the most powerful RX and its powertrain will be combination of the 3.5-liter V-6 petrol engine teamed with a two electric motors / generators for a net 308 horsepower. Paired with the variable automatic transmission it will have fuel economy rated at 30 mpg of combined drive. It does not run on electricity but instead makes use of the regenerative braking which then recharges the battery nickel-metal-hydride pack. There will be four driving modes available to chose: Normal, Sport, Eco and EV (only on short distances).
