The 2018 Lincoln MKX is a luxury mid-size crossover SUV, which can seat more than five large people comfortably. The vehicle is known for two things, one is its size and two is its ride handling capabilities. Not to mention the vehicle comes in leather which makes it extremely comfortable to sit inside.
It comes in Premiere, Select, Reserve trim levels and top model – Black Label. Unfortunately the vehicle has not been able to make its identity in the luxury vehicle segment due to its badge, which is sad. Main rivals of the new Lincoln MKX 2018 are Audi Q5, Ford Edge, Lexus RX, Cadillac XT5 and Volvo XC60.
What changes will the 2018 Lincoln MKX get?
The 2018 Lincoln MKX exterior is graceful and softer. There are some similarities with its cousin, Ford Edge but some details on MKX’s design separates them. Front fascia is recognizable by Lincoln’s split grille surrounded with narrow LED headlights. Standard wheels on this luxury SUV are 18-inch alloy while there are also available 20-inch wheels. Black Label model comes with 21-inch wheels and there are two premium exterior colors reserved just for this trim level: Chroma Elite and Chroma Couture. Base models come with nine exterior colors in option: Black Velvet, Burgundy Velvet, Ingot Silver, Luxe Silver, Magnetic Gray, Midnight Sapphire Blue, Palladium White Gold, Ruby Red and White Platinum.
There are not too many changes on the exterior of the vehicle though you could have expected more from it. You could say that the MKX comes off as a wagon. In the front it comes with a dual grille and the back has tail lamps which are around the tailgate. You will notice that under the rear bumper when shaken, the tailgate will rise and LED running lamps offer good lighting for the driver for this large vehicle.
Changes inside the cabin of the next-gen MKX
The 2018 Lincoln MKX interior is nicely designed with themes like Indulgence, Modern Heritage, and others. The designers have come up with several new features inside the vehicle which is good to see. High quality materials are in use of MKX interior, such as fine leather for upholstery and some highlighted details of wood and aluminum. Above passengers heads is huge Panoramic Vista roof that enables shiny interior with a scatterbrained feeling.
Just like every luxury vehicle, and MKX comes with plenty of room on second row of seats. 40 inches of legroom is enough to stretch legs and that is more than some corssover’s front space for legs. Infotainment features uses new Sync3 system with 8-inch touchscreen with integrated 9-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, climate system, rearview camera and navigation. Higher trim levels comes with Revel premium audio system with 19 speakers.

You will be happy to know that the MKX comes with a Lincoln Drive Control. Here you have the option of choosing from different driving modes like Comfort, Normal, and Sport modes. Though it comes with 20-inch wheels, the suspension of the vehicle is something which has to be praised often along with power steering which cruises along undisturbed.
2018 Lincoln MKX release date and price
The 2018 Lincoln MKX will be priced more than $60,000 and the release date is not yet known. The MKX is ideal for its standard and optional safety equipment. You will be glad to also know that the vehicle is comfortable and stylish. It also comes with decent ride handling qualities. However, the massive vehicle provides you with minimum mileage which can be its undoing.
With a reserved styling, a powerful V-6 engine, plush inside cabins, comfortable suspension and good handling the vehicle is just too good its own sake. There is no hybrid for the lineup, push-button shifter is not up to the mark, the brand really does not come in the luxury category, and the AWD fuel economy is terrible.
