There will be small upgrade on the 2018 VW Passat compared to the earlier version. For US market, there will not be any exterior redesign. That means that the MSRP price should remain almost same as its predecessor.
The new 2018 Passat release date for the USA market should be set in second half of 2017. The latest news is that, the EU launch date has been postponed in order to collide with the European-specs. Now the maker is already under immense pressure with this tactic. The reason for that being, now they have to decide if they are going to sell different versions of cars, which according to them, they are. Though they come with the same name they are totally different cars in certain manners and features.

After affair with diesel engines, we do not expect to see this oil burner under the hood of the next generation of Passat. However, you should not be surprised to see the next-generation Passat with plug-in hybrid drivetrain. That would be a fantastic move by the designers of the car keeping in mind that they are moving in the right direction of saving fuel sources. The ride quality could have been improved to ensure comfort and convenience. Apart from that it is a great car to own.
